IBASE Ships Its Latest Long-Life Industrial Motherboard

IBASE Technology, a leader in embedded computing, ships its latest high-performance industrial motherboard. With minimum lifecycle of 5 years, the MB885 is based on the Intel® 915G PCI express chipset. It features the most advanced PCI Express bus that delivers over three times more bandwidth than PCI and AGP8X buses. The board is designed for Intel® Pentium® processors supporting Hyper-Threading (HT) Technology in the LGA775 package with system bus of 800/533MHz for greater system performance. With two DDR/400/DDR333 memory sockets on board, flexible memory configurations of up to 2GB RAM is supported.

The MB885 comes with Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 that runs the graphics engine at 333MHz and features new 3D capabilities and PCI Express graphics card support. It is also equipped with two Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controllers.

Other prominent features of the board include four Serial ATA ports (SATA/150) for high data transfers of up to 150MB/s for each port and six USB 2.0 ports that offer 40X more bandwidth over USB 1.1 for high-speed I/O devices. Expansion on board is provided by five PCI, one PCI Express x16 and one PCI Express x1 I/O interface. Other features are DiskOnChip socket, 4 serial ports, digital I/O and Boot ROM support.

Intel Core 2 Duo Faster - Battery and Lap Stay Same

Posted in Processors, Notebooks, Intel by Darrin Olson on August 28th, 2006

Intel Core 2 Duo ExtremeIntel’s latest processor for notebooks, the Core 2 Duo which was previously code named “Merom”, has started shipping in with the leading notebook manufacturers including Dell, HP, Gateway and Apple with the MacBook Pro. This new processor promises 20% more processing speed than the previous Core Duo. So, basically this means that the your notebook battery lasts just as long and your legs won’t melt any faster.

The Core 2 Duo processor can achieve such great speeds because it has 2 processing cores that allow it to do multiple tasks simultaneously. This …

MEMORY

DDR Overview
Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM is the latest Memory Module technology approved by Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC). The size and structure are similar to conventional Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM module but works differently. With a one-open-key and 184-pins PCB design, DDR module reads data on both the upper and lower frequencies of each clock cycle, which stands for the data rate is doubled. It may also burst the peak bandwidth up to 2.1GB(DDR266, 133MHz) per second. DDR module can deliver superior memory performance, and its low 2.5V operating voltage is complied with Stub Series Terminated Logic - 2 (SSTL-2) standard.

There is no doubt that DDR module is a perfect design for a variety of applications, which need mass-capacity and high-speed data storage.
